Highlights of PM Modi's Speech: 5 Big Announcements on 75th Independence Day

Completing a quarter to a century of its independence from British colonial rule, India celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on Sunday. On this very occasion, our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi and addressed the nation. He paid tribute to the frontline covid workers for their continuous fight against the pandemic, also congratulated the sportspersons. Followed by he made several new announcements while addressing the nation touching the blueprint for the country’s agriculture, economic, infrastructure sectors and more.

The five key announcements made by PM Modi are mentioned below:

National Hydrogen Mission

The launch of National Hydrogen Mission has been announced and it was also revealed the how this would make India the global production hub for clean hydrogen fuel production and export. Furthermore, the mission aims to transform India as a self-reliant clean energy which would indeed create new job opportunities.

Rice Fortification by 2024

The PM announced that all the rice distributed through government schemes would be fortified with nutrients. This means that the process of raising the content of an essential micronutrient, such as vitamins or minerals, in a food item to enhance its nutritional value and provide public health benefits at low cost. This is mainly for the rice in the public distribution system and midday meal schemes. The move would help improve the health of women and children in low-income families.

75 Vande Bharat trains in 75 weeks

The PM announced that 75 ‘Vande Bharat’ trains would connect different parts of the country in 75 weeks. Vande Bharat is an indigenous semi-high speed train set.

Gati Shakti Yojana

Modi also announced an 100-lakh crore national infrastructure master plan known as the  Gati Shakti Yojana. The mission eyes to offer an integrated and holistic pathway to the Indian economy. By breaking the barriers within the economy, the mission plans to make local entrepreneurs globally competitive.

Girls to enter Sainik Schools

The girl cadets would now be able to enter all-boys Sainik Schools from the academic session 2021-22. Sainik Schools Society under the Ministry of Defence (MoD) is all set for girl student’s entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA).
